As December wraps its chilly arms around us, bringing another year to a close, I find myself lost in a sea of contemplation, not about what gifts to buy, but about the journey we've all traversed this year. It's easy to get caught up in the holiday rush, the endless sales, and the pressure to find the perfect presents. But this year, I'm advocating for a different kind of gift – the gift of reflection. 

A Year in Review – Beyond the Surface

Typically, as the year ends, we are bombarded with messages about New Year's resolutions. Gyms become crowded, planners are bought, and promises to “change” are made. But, let's be honest, how often do these resolutions stick? This year, I propose we dive deeper. Instead of surface-level resolutions, let's reflect on our entire year – the triumphs, the lessons, and yes, even the missteps.

The Consumerist Trap of the Holidays

In my years of practice and life experiences, I've developed a gargantuan distaste for the consumerist frenzy that takes over the holiday season. There is a certain hollowness in the rush to buy expensive gifts, often leading to stress and financial strain. Let's break free from this cycle. True joy does not come from the latest gadget or the biggest sale. It comes from meaningful experiences, heartfelt connections, and personal growth.

Finding Fulfillment in Simplicity

This December, I urge you to find fulfillment in the simpler things – a good book with a delicious cup of hot tea, a walk on the beach, or a quiet evening with a loved one. As someone who enjoys the peacefulness of yoga, the thrill of a good golf game, and the beauty of nature, I've learned that the best things in life are indeed free.

Reflecting and Planning for Growth

As we prepare to welcome the new year, let's set aside time for genuine reflection. What have we learned? How have we grown? And most importantly, how can we use these insights to improve not just our lives but the lives of those around us? Let's plan for growth that matters – emotional, spiritual, and intellectual.
